I just purchased a '78 DT250 at a yard sale. It has no spark and I want to get to the wiring harness under the seat. Problem is I can't figure out how to get the seat off the bike. The Clymer manual says "remove the seat" helpful but how the heck do I do that? I'm used to bikes with hinged seats and a simple release pin. This DT250 doesn't seem to be a hinged seat. How do I remove the seat?

There are two brackets attached to the seat that hang down and are then bolted to the frame ..... remove the two bolts (one on each side) ... lift up rear of seat a little and pull it straight back.

Thanks, The seat is off and I suspect I found my electrical problem. The wires going to the coil look like they got pinched and the insulation was cut down to the bare wires which I suspect were shorting out against the frame. I had to stop for the night but plan to play with it some more tomorrow.
